1) What is the first impression, guests should have from the moment they enter your hotel?
a) The hotel should be the proverbial pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. They should feel that after the stressful travelling; now their holiday begins.
2) What distinguishes your hotel from other hotels in Mauritius?
a) Our marketing strategy. We do not aim to sell beds and drinks and lobster etc. but rather an entire experience.
3) What are you doing to bring Mauritius into your hotel?
a) This should happen through our employees, our cuisine, the open style in which the hotel is built, and which is thus letting the island atmosphere enter.'
4) Would you say your hotel embraces eco-tourism, or are there existing plans for any such project in the future?
a) This is a big word. We do certain things for the environment though. We recycle for instance the filtered sewage water for the garden, we encourage our guests to not have their linens changed every day, we provide a key system which automatically cuts the power in the room when the guests leave or turns off the air conditioning when the balcony doors are opened; but we are certainly not a member of an eco hotel chain. No eco standards are planned at the moment.
5) If a guest approaches you and enquires about a seeing a unique place or participating in one exciting activity outside your hotel, where would you recommend for them to go?
a) I would recommend seeing Grand Bassin or Ganga Talaoas it is called in Hindi, as a visit of this sacred Crater Lake is a cultural and a natural experience at the same time.
6) What is the most precious souvenir a guest should have after spending their holidays in your hotel?
a) The firm conviction of having chosen the right place for their holiday. And, of course, the joyful experience of their interaction with our staff.
7) What is your favourite place in the hotel?
a) You know what, I show you!
Whereupon he takes the journalist to this little spot at the beach, where the view is splendid and one can have privacy right on the beachfront, without having to go far or being cut off from the rest of the premises. We recommend you to enjoy it too. It’s right by the La Faya Restaurant.
